| - We decided to get our nails done on my daughters birthday and ended up here after visiting the Ballantyne location first. The Ballantyne location was very busy and the employee there told us that this location had just opened up and we could probably get in easily. We took her up on it and make the "trek" across town. This location is really cute, love the fancy furry chairs and of course, the complimentary drinks. I decided on a pedicure, my one daughter got a gel manicure and the birthday girl decided on her first full set of acrylic nails. I was immediately seated for my pedicure after the technician put what looked like a super large shower cap in the foot basin and filled it with lukewarm water. That was a disappointment but I just didn't fill like asking her to refill it with hot water. They also had a grand opening classic pedicure special for $20.00. Score! Checking in on the yelp app also earned me 50 reward points added to my account that I signed up for upon check out.
Back to the pedicure. I didn't have long to soak my feet before she started, I usually like to soak for 5 minutes and I was certain she was going to rush through the pedicure but I was wrong. She(never was told her name and I forgot to ask) did a very thorough job from start to finish. She trimmed my nails, oiled and trimmed my cuticles, exfoliated my feet(very ticklish), got my sugar scrub(loved this part), washed feet, put lotion of your choice(I chose tangerine scent), hot towel and then painted after putting on the disposable flip flops. There are two televisions on the wall that you can watch while getting your nails done and they were playing The Food Network and HGTV, perfect! I had some hot Rooibos tea in a nice mug while my nails dried. My tech did offer me a drink earlier(they have a menu to choose from) but I didn't want anything at the time. They did deliver the tea without asking me if I wanted sugar in it so I had to ask my daughter to go add sugar and then it was perfect. Everyone was very nice and my daughter was pleased with her gel manicure as well, she said she will be a regular now. My toes looked great and I was pleased with my pedicure. As for the acrylics, the finish on the polish was unfinished in areas and just looked a bit sloppy and my daughter said the guy who did her nails was not friendly at all. When we asked to have them fixed, the gentleman came back out and was acting annoyed while he fixed them and then was just a bit aggressive. I'm not sure if he didn't speak English but he just motioned and didn't respond to us when we were talking, it was annoying and a bit frustrating. I wish I'd gotten his name but we will be sure to never go to him, ever!
Overall, all the technicians were very quiet and not very personable at all. It was a bit weird, like they just were "workers" instead of professional technicians. It's like you're almost in a nail "sweat shop" and the employees are just working an "assembly" line of people getting their nails done. It would be nice if they introduced themselves and were just more personable and more engaged. It would make the experience more pleasurable. My daughters also received 5 bucks off their service because it was their first time. Gel manicure is regularly 30 bucks and the full set of acrylics with the ballerina cut(extra $5.00) was $35.00 before the discount. Oh, and they have a gazillion brands and colors to choose from. It's insane. You are sure to find your perfect color.
That is all!
