If you are a committed fitness freak - avoid this place. Can't really tell you what it's like to work out at this facility, or even what the staff members are like, wait times for cardio equipment, or even if their group classes are worth your time.
My husband and I are from Canada and have a home here. We are both at our regular gym five days a week. While here in Phoenix, the little gym at our condo complex just doesn't cut it.
I went into LA Fitness yesterday to check out the place. Told both the front desk receptionist and the sales guy immediately I was interested In a guest pass. Suffered through the entire tour - pitch of what all I would be offered with my monthly membership. I told the guy right up front that I wanted to try their gym before I committed to anything. 30 minutes later, he told me he wouldn't give me a guest pass because I didn't have an AZ drivers license.
Their classes were made up largely of Zumba, yoga and core/strength type classes. Only two bootcamp classes in the entire week.
I didn't let them waste another second of my time.
Called up Orangetheory in Arcadia first thing this morning - having my first free session at 5:30 today, and I'm sure I'll be purchasing a pre-paid package, It's exactly what I'm looking for.
Cost wasn't an issue for me in any way, shape or form.

BTW - the sales dude didn't even know what the TRX system was! Really? Should've known as soon as he gave me a blank stare when I asked him where I could set up my TRX in the gym that this was not the place for me.
