You would think that a place located across the street from the Overture Center for the Arts would be skilled at getting a pre-show crowd in and out quickly. You'd be wrong. You would also think a place that has at least 4 visible servers in and out behind the bar would be able to give patrons seated at the bar great service. Well, at The Icon, you'd be wrong about that, too. A friend and I went last night before an Overture performance (The Book of Mormon - it was *fantastic*!). We arrived at 6pm and were told that without a reservation there were no tables (ok...but there are like 5 visibly empty tables so...whatever). So we sat at the bar, where we waited and waited for basics like water and menus and to ask questions about the food. My friend ordered 3 tapas plates. We had to a) try to flag down a server just to get drink refills, b) tell a server (not our original server, but she wasn't paying attention to us) that we were going to a show that started at 7:30 so they didn't need to stagger the tapas, we were in a bit of a hurry; and c) at 7:05 ask *again* where the 3rd plate was because we still hadn't received it. When that 3rd plate arrived, my friend had to practically inhale it because it was already 7:15 and we had to hustle. The food was good, and any place that has my favorite Red Breast Irish whiskey on its bar menu gets some props from me, but we certainly won't go back when we're in a hurry.
