After dining at some delightful places in Madison, we were unimpressed with Harvest. We ordered a cheese plate which had three delicious cheeses sprinkled with 5 or so pistachios and a small helping of bread. Our request for more bread was answered reluctantly with a few more slices, still not enough to compliment the portion of cheeses. We split a watermelon salad with chunks of watermelon the size of my fingernail. The flavors did not blend well, and while it sounded refreshing and wonderful in description, it fell flat. Furthermore, my husband requested cheese on his salad and we were told the kitchen would not meet that request.. The beef tenderloin and gnocchi dishes were wonderful, however, although the portions are very small- certainly this is not a bountiful Harvest. And bread was doled out sparingly with our cheese plate- No dinner rolls here! We found our server to be rather inattentive, and not pleasant. We felt the food was hit or miss, and the dishes we liked were very small portions. There are many wonderful restaurants in Madison brimming with personality. We will not rush back to Harvest.
