| - Very good food here. But beware, portions are large and it's easy to over order.
With a group of 7, we pre-ordered the TĂȘte de cochon and ordered Poutine au foie gras, Foie gras aux pommes (but with cranberry instead because it was the special of the day), Pied de cochon and a Bison Tartare. This was definitely too much food.
The Poutine au foie gras was delicious. They don't cheap out on the fois gras, gravy, cheese or the fries. You'll get half melted cheese and some of them still in the form of chunks. The fois gras melts in perfectly. For me, this appetizer is on the heavy side.
The Foie gras aux cranberry was a nice, light appetizer. The fruit is refreshing and the fois gras adds an extra pinch of "classiness" to the dish.
The Bison Tartare was nice and tender, although more on the spicy side (there was a lot of pepper). It comes with a side salad, which was a good getaway from all the meat.
The Pied de cochon was a humongous dish. The main dish hides under a hefty layer of broiled onions along with a gigantic side of mashed potatoes. The feet itself was good, the entire dish is a little heavy for my liking.
Finally, the TĂȘte de cochon was the star of the night. The head is searched with a lobster crawling out of its mouth. The dish sparks curiosity - you get to taste how every part of this pig's head tastes (which to me, tastes practically the same). As for texture, I prefer the inner cheeks and the pig ears. However, once you get to the inner cheeks, you might get a slice of pig brains too. The outer cheeks were way too fat for me. It gives you the type of gross feeling you'd get after eating a junk food meal. The snout and chin was tougher than the rest. We even ate the eye!
The overall pig's head was very flavorful. The lobster is a light side to munch on when you get tired of the pig. I wish the other veggies on the side weren't as oily though.
If you decide to go to Au Pied de Cochon, prepare for a feast. You will find yourself eating twice or three times more than you usually do. The food is great, and you will need a nice long nap after the meal.
