| - The CNE is a yearly tradition for the Hubster and me. We like to go to the food building straight away (obviously), grab lunch, then hit the international building to check out the stalls and buy our yearly stock of tank tops, cheap shirts and jackets.
This year I also got to sit in on chef Michael Smith giving a presentation about healthy food, which was pretty cool.
Food:
- The giant pickle from the German gingerbread house looking place was awful, but they had some killer schnitzel. Soft, crunchy, amazing.
- Gyro platter from Seven Seas (Seven Star?) Greek food was okay, the rice sucked and there were no potatoes.
Being unable to eat dairy, I didn't have any of the crazy deep-fried food they were offering. The lineups were long for the Mac and Cheesery, but not crazy considering it was a weekend afternoon.
Clothes:
The real reason for going there. Usually the Hubster and I come away with bags and bags of discounted jeans, t-shirts, the odd dress and more. This year, the haul was more disappointing. There was very little in terms of menswear, and the clothes for women were of the cheeky teenager variety. If I needed to stock up on t-shirts telling people how saucy I am, it would be amazing. But unfortunately for the CNE, my sauciness is already quite apparent. They usually have three big areas full of clothes, but this year there were only two.
The rides seemed overpriced this year, and we rarely play any of the games. It WAS fun to walk around and the atmosphere is pretty festive.
We'll be back again next year, maybe we'll catch the Super Dogs next time.
