| - The PBT's Nutcracker is a MUST SEE!
We've been there two years in a row, and it is absolutely mesmerizing. The set is adorable with little Pittsburgh details (I won't ruin the surprise by telling you!) and the dancers are talented: both graceful and athletic.
I know what you're saying: "I'm not much of a "ballet person.'" Well, neither am I despite seeing some of the best: both the NYC and the Joffrey (Chicago). I'd much rather see the symphony, opera, or live theater. I STILL recommend the PBT's Nutcracker to you or anyone!
After we had such a positive Nutcracker experience last year, we also say Beauty and the Beast. Again, I was pleasantly surprised, and my daughter who likes them to "talk" during the production (fan of musicals not of symphony) was riveted.
My only disappointment is that the music is recorded. PBT does over 20 shows so it is a necessity, but I do love a live orchestra! The recording is good though, and you probably won't notice a difference.
P.S. The Benedum always makes for a great venue! We always sit on the main floor (highly recommend if you can afford it), and the view is terrific.
Disclaimer: although we paid last year, my tickets to the Nutcracker this year were free from Yelp.
