  • I've heard great things about this place and I can completely see why. The ambiance alone is so charming. It really is a collection of a weary traveler. A mixture of a classy Irish pub with a quaint Parisian cafe and everything in between. I obviously made that all up, but I really loved the entire feel of the restaurant. The entrance is around the corner and you walk through two red curtains to get to the actual dining area. My friend had grabbed a table for us in the corner and it was the perfect area. a Wooden booth with lively music spanning across time. Each of the tables have a telephone on it, which unfortunately doesn't work, but adds to the decor. My friends and I ordered a small cheese plate, 4 Bad breath Burgers, the andes sandwich, and the carne asada. Here's my opinion on them all. -Small Cheese Plate: enough for the 6 of us to share and start the dinner. The house made crostini's made the entire dish. It was like a bagel chip but thinner and seasoned perfectly. the meat and cheese that accompanied it however, seemed like it could be from a prepackaged deli...or grocery store. All in all it was okay, and only ~$8 so it was a nice starter -Bad Breath Burger: We asked for our burger to be medium and unfortunately it came out more well done. It didn't leave me with bad breath, but the flavors all together were pretty good. which was surprising since it's made of cream cheese, green goddess dressing, and pickapeppa sauce. Overall i enjoyed it especially because it came with garlic yukon sliced potatoes sautéed in garlic. -West of the Andes Sandwich: THE BEST THING ON THE MENU. I got it with beef tenderloin that was cooked medium rare. The brioche type bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside where all the flavors came together. the Chipotle mayo on it gave the sandwich the perfect kick and the the juices from the meat soaked into the bun. There were also mixed greens that came with it to balance out heaviness of the meat. If there is one thing you have to order here, this is it. -Carne Asada: Unfortunately i wasn't able to try this but my friend really enjoyed it. It looked more like a fancy nacho plate, but the meat was very similar to that in the Andes sandwich. I would consider getting it next time, but i'm most likely going to just go with the sandwich above again. The service was mediocre. Our food came out a little slow, but that was an easy price to pay for the deliciousness of what we ordered. This is one of the few places in Madison that I will for sure be back to visit! Next time I have to save some room for dessert because it sounded amazing. Happy eating!!
