A nice local option for dinner.
We were surprised how lard the bistro was, from the outside it looks like a hole in the wall but it's large enough for families of all sizes and has a cute bar area up front.
Priced right, the menu has lots of options. We decided on crab Rangoon's to start. They came out very hot (always good) and had lots of crab flavor in just a small bundle of filling. The sweet and sour was tasty with a nice pineapple flavor in there. The opportunity here would be just to plate them on a paper of some sort or even just some chopped cabbage, the plate had the oil which isn't a surprise since they are deep fried.
The entrees we shared were beef lo mein and Mongolian beef. Both had that awesome wok flavor I'm looking for with Chinese food. The lo mein could have used some more veggies for some color and texture. It had a nice flavor of garlic and savory all the way through. The Mongolian beef was also good with a hint of sweet in the dish. The dishes were a little heavy with oil but it's normal for most Chinese food. The chile oil was not spicy to us... which was a little sad.
The service was attentive and they worked as a team so that helped keep things moving.
