Le Club Chasse et Peche was the quintessential Old Montreal restaurant to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. The ambiance was dark yet warm and romantic. The inside was old and made you feel like you were back in the 17th century.
We started with the famous piglet risotto which was a smart choice. It was very rich, had wonderful chunks of pulled pork and frozen cherries that add unique texture and helps cut the rich heaviness. I would split this dish and they did split the bowl so it was easy to share.
I had the lamb which was delicious and nicely cooked (medium rare). I really enjoyed the accompaniments (pine nuts, cauliflower, etc.)
My boyfriend had the surf and turf special which was lobster and veal filet mignon. It was of course amazing and the sauce was divine. The only reason I did not give 5 starts was the portion size of the surf and turf. It was gone in under 5 minutes. For small portions they do give you endless bread which was nice.
Thanks for the amazing meal and service was 5 stars!
