| - Worst experience I have ever had with service. Be sure you know more than they do about furniture and delivery.
I found a bedroom suite that I loved. I wanted a large dresser for my bedroom since I have minimal closet space and no need for a mirror. I dealt with a gentleman that was a nice SALESMAN!
I explained what I was looking for and he found me a great quality set. I fell in love with the set because of the dresser and the salesman was well aware of that.
Purchasing the furniture was also very easy. I applied for credit and it was approved on the spot. He gave me a price of the furniture based on the standard items in the set. It was hard to customize it because the pricing was hard to follow. They were having a 56% off sale and it was still difficult to figure out what was going on with pricing.
He did ask for a down payment of 30% which I wasn't expecting and thought he should have told me that the first time since I don't always keep that kind of money easily accessible. (I had a day between finding the set and purchasing the set.)
It took about 10 weeks to deliver which was expected. What I was not expecting was to return the furniture because it wouldn't fit up my stairs. The delivery guys were very nice and professional. They allowed me to call the store to see what to do but everyone was very busy so I denied the entire set. They also said that they have tried to deliver 9 of these and returned 4, or 44%.
The salesman finally called me back and informed me that I would need to pay a 30% restocking fee. I still don't see this in the contract I signed as well. I explained to him AGAIN that the reason I purchased that set was because of that dresser. Now I was going to have to give them over $2,000 for no furniture. He offered the solution of purchasing a different dresser and returning that one, with the fee!
At this point I was very angry and upset, I did yell, cuss, and explain that I felt that this was all just a scam to get money.
I explained to purchase another dresser he would need to tell me the clearance I would need because I thought I had enough for the other dresser. He said he doesn't know that information. He isn't a delivery person. It was concluded that the salesman and delivery employees don't ever communicate. I felt as though upon purchasing that particular piece of furniture that I should have been told that they have issues delivering it or been told what clearance I need to get it in the room.
He sent me, via email, a listing of other dressers to choose from, but did not include the inches of clearance that I would need to get it in the house. He said he would speak with the delivery guys and let me know. All he came back with was a list of the ones that would fit. Still not definitive response on the number of inches of clearance needed.
I decided to have keep the other dresser since I didn't want to give Levin FREE money for no product. It was delivered by 2 subcontractors when I was specifically told that they don't hire subcontractors. You could tell they weren't nearly as professional as the previous ones. They didn't use furniture blankets and just seem to want to get it done as fast as possible.
After about 2 weeks of back and forth I finally ordered an additional dresser. The salesman asked me if everything was ok and I said no...I have a very expensive dresser in my basement and now I am spending more money with a company that provides bad service. He obviously didn't want to hear that.
He said he wasn't going to call me anymore and that he has held my hand through this whole process and done everything he could.
He hasn't done anything for me but allowed me to spend more money and as of my last bill I still had the restocking fee on it. He didn't do anything special for me at all but take my credit card numbers.
He did say that I should be receiving something in the mail, it has yet to arrive! I will up date this with the new dresser that should be delivered within the next 8 weeks.
To conclude:
The communication at levin is horrible.
The salesman are there'd to sell furniture not provide good customer service.
They DO hire subcontractors to deliver furniture.
They don't know what clearance you need, you may want to do our own physics calculation to figure that out.
They are all about making money and nothing else.
I will not ever purchase anything else from this company again. Enjoy your commission!
