| - Burgers, fries, and shakes, the perfect hangover trifecta! My friends and I came for brunch even though we weren't hungover, since we were looking for a good burger. It was packed at the bar since there were a good amount of people here to watch the conference finals for football, and they were charging a $40 minimum or something crazy to watch from the "lounge" area behind the bar seats. We lucked out and got one of the last tables at the restaurant part with a TV, and had a good lunch and spot to watch the game. We tried:
-Complimentary Popcorn (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=6A9_UPW4c-N_pt7j2bMD9A&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Super addicting- they sprinkle a spicy-ish powder on top, and the popcorn is nice and crispy. A good way to start the meal, but it's also difficult to stop eating.
-Captain Hook (Seared Salmon w/Remoulade Sauce, Smoked Salmon, Frissee, Pickled Shallots, Served w/Fries, $17, http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=eelZKpVyJlyG3YvjPoapeA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): I really liked this burger- the salmon was cooked perfectly, and it was a nice change from the other beef burgers we tried. Recommended! Their regular fries are just average- they needed to be fried more as well as more salt.
-The Fun-Ghi (Beef Patty Topped w/Forest Mushrooms, Caramelized Onion, Gruyere Cheese, Frisee, Truffle Mayo, $17 + Onion Rings $2.50, http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=kmCDudtCE5AnL5skhFm_aQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Good flavor, but really salty. You have to like mushrooms and caramelized onions to like this burger, and the gruyere was quite overpowering. This wasn't a bad burger aside from the saltiness, but I liked the other two we ordered more. The onion rings were pretty disappointing since the breading was way too thick/heavy, so I wouldn't get those again.
-The Rising Sun (Kobe Beef, Teriyaki Glaze, Nori Furikake, Crispy Yam, Spicy Mayo, Tempura Avocado, $18 + Sweet Potato Fries $2.50, http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=KuT9_8CAr2V-s4iULriszQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Yum- this was our favorite burger since it was also the most unique. It was borderline too salty, but the crispy yam and avocado helped save it. Highly recommended! The sweet potato fries were also our favorite out of the fries/onion ring- they had the perfect amount of crispiness.
-Virgin Frozen Grasshopper Milkshake (Peppermint, Chocolate, $9, http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=JXv6Xbd4MgSDGFqwgmtNNQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Yum, this was a good mint chocolate chip inspired milkshake. You'll be crunching on chocolate bits throughout though.
-Bloody Mary ($13): Yuck, do not bother ordering this here, this was a waste of money. It needed more spices, and there was no celery stick!
Our server was new, and you could tell he was a bit nervous. However, he was really nice as was the other staff- they originally gave me regular fries instead of the sweet potato fries I ordered, and were apologetic when I pointed it out and went to put in an order for the sweet potato fries right away. Our drinks took a while to come, but the wait wasn't too bad. Overall, we had some great burgers here and will definitely be back!
