  • I should have paid caution to all of the reviews. I recently was having problems with the starter on my 2013 Sonata and decided to try Larry Miller Hyundai for the service work since the dealership is just a couple miles from my home. Unfortunately, I was reminded why I drive miles out of my way to Earnhardt Hyundai in Avondale. I called the dealership before bringing in my car and asked how long it would take to fix the starter (was told that if I got it in pretty quickly, they could have it fixed that day). Being that it was 9:30, I figured that would be great and only require me to take one day off of work. I drop the car off at 10:15 and was told by the service rep that they would give me a call later in the day when completed. Fast forward to 4:30 and I have not heard back from the rep. I make a phone call and he tells me the technician doesn't think it's the starter, but he would call back to the shop and see if there was another update and would call me right back. An hour passes with no phone call so I take an Uber to the dealership (since the service department closes at 6). Clearly startled that I would just show up, the service rep told me that it was indeed the starter and that they would have the part by noon the next day. After I told the rep that I can't just be without a car and that my employer likes when I show up to work, he calls back to see if he can get my car for me for the night. Unfortunately, the starter had already been removed and all of the technicians were apparently gone for the day. Long story short, I ended up having to get a rental car and pay for it out of pocket (apparently Hyundai nor the dealer would cover the cost). Interestingly enough, when I had some warranty work done at Earnhardt Hyundai that took a few days, they provided me with a rental car since all of their loaners were taken. The overall lack of communication was the root of the issue and that can easily be corrected for the next customer. However, the lack of apology or attempt to help rectify the problem was the most frustrating. As an add on to my lovely experience, my sunglasses were missing from the sunglasses holder above my dash (but replaced with an old pair I had in my console. And two weeks later, my car has the same problems it did when I took it in.
