  • We decided to attend Sears vacations presentation when our friends told us about them. The presentation was very nice and we were very close to purchasing the membership at the same time. However, we had some questions in our mind about the reliability of the big promises Sears was making especially because the amount we were about to pay was so big ($5k). The executive who was assisting was very polite and nice, however, since he was pretty new there he wanted his Director of Memberships to guide us so we are convinced. The Director of Memberships names Nicholas was so rude to us. When I asked about the installment plan and inquired if I can stop making payments if I don't get what I pay for, he said - "If you can't afford it, don't buy it". Then he continued saying , "Don't buy if you don't travel". I was shocked. We were there because we could afford it, it's just that I wanted them to convince us and that is what marketing is. When I asked him if I can get couple of days to think, he advised that the deal and free gift is for that day only so he will charge our card for the full amount (to hold the deal for us) and said they will credit us back in 3 days if we decide not to go for it. When I said, I don't want to hold this big amount on my card and I need only 2 days to think, he got annoyed, picked up everything and left without answering our questions. Then he sent his junior (who was assisting us before and was polite) to give us our free gift and leave. We felt so insulted. He is so called Director of Memberships and full of attitude. His junior noticed the behavior and apologized. However, I am not even thinking about getting the membership anymore. If they are treating the customers like this before becoming a member, what would they do afterwards ? Pathetic.
