| - The first time I ate at Six Penn Kitchen was back before I even began Yelping. So by the time I was getting into the swing of reviewing things, I honestly couldn't even remember my experience here that well, beyond "standard". Fortunately, I've had a couple chances to eat here in the last six months or so, and both times the meals and restaurant as a whole has been much better than standard! In fact, things have been consistently great. Great food, great service...great experience all around.
Six Penn is an American bistro, so this is a great place to sample and enjoy a lot comfort foods and favorites - often with a tasty twist whipped up by their chefs. When eating here my friends, family and I have all enjoyed sweet cocktails, creamy soups, tender burgers and pork shanks, fresh pizzas, and carb-tastic pastas. Honestly, my only complaint about Six Penn is that sometimes the food is a tad on the overly seasoned and salty side. When the main ingredients are prepared as well as they are here, it's a waste to mask the real flavor with too much extra stuff.
Fortunately, this seems to be an occasional cooking error rather than the norm. And it's not like the extra flavoring ruins the food - not by a long shot. As a result, I can always step in to Six Penn confident that my meal will be good, the drinks tasty, the service attentive and prompt.
