My family drives from Belmont to Matthews at least twice a month to take advantage of Cinemark 10's great price on not-so-new releases. I love how we get to see movies on the big screen for cheap instead of waiting for DVD release, or even worse, waiting for Netflix streaming! It also makes a great cheap date night with my husband or a reward or special treat for my kids.
It's definitely an older theater, which is why it's a discount theater now. The inside decor is pretty tacky and the restrooms are decrepit. Occasionally you'll see a vertical line in the screen. There is always a lot of staff every time I go, and they are kind and helpful and they keep the theaters clean. On busy days the cleanliness of the restrooms is hit or miss.
The concession prices are *insane* to me, but since I very rarely go to a full-price theater, I don't really have a point of reference for that. A large soda is over $5...yikes! But they gotta make their money somewhere, I guess. We just always plan to eat before we go.
Overall, one has to take the bad with the good, and at this theater it's a fair trade. You just can't beat $1 and $2 movie tickets.
