  • This year for my Christmas trip, Main Street Station was my home away from home. Over my very reasonably priced four night stay, I'll admit that I found that this place is actually pretty great. When I checked in, nice lady behind the counter asked if I had any requests. I asked for a view, if it wasn't too much trouble. Well, my room was great. Fourteen floors up, I had a pretty great view of the California Casino across the street, and just a few blocks down the way, the southern end of Fremont Street. There's a neat historical and worldly aspect to this place. Within the great space of the Casino are a pretty good sized collection of historical artifacts. Statues, windows, chandeliers, paintings, and even some doors from famous places in space and time are sprinkled throughout the place. It's a pretty fun scavenger hunt to snap a photo of all of them. While I did my best, I sadly couldn't get to them all. Kinda wish there was a tour or something. The casino has a ton of all the most up to date and coolest slot games. I'm sure they also play all the card games and dice games and other stuff you might go to Vegas to play as well. But since I'm not really a gambler, I didn't pay much attention to them. I went to one of the restaurants in the place. For breakfast one morning, I went to the champagne brunch at the Garden Buffet. I ate lots of wonderful things, and I was very glad I was walking to fremont street for the morning's adventure. Thank you champagne girl. I do kinda wish I had visited the brewery at least once. If you'd like to stay inside for your walks over to Fremont street, there is a connecting bridge from Main Street Station that goes over over Main Street to the next door California Casino. Sadly, from there you need to brave the elements. But it's just a few blocks down to see all the excitement and wonder that is fremont street and it's experience. The room was great, the casino was wonderful, the location was spectacular, the price was ridiculously reasonable, however.....my one minor complaint about the place is their internet policy. Whilst gaming on the gambling floors, the internet is free. All the internet you can ever hope to use. However, get in an elevator and go up to your room, internet is $10 for 24 hours of use. All in all the place was great, and I'll most likely be back to visit on my next trip out there for Christmas 2018.
