| - I visit Las Vegas frequently, but had never stepped foot onto the Silverton Casino Hotel property before. But I saw (for the first time) billboards advertising this attraction, and decided it was a good excuse to visit the resort, see the aquarium, and explore the Bass Pro Shop.
In my opinion, I'd rate this aquarium as "excellent". My reasoning is this: I have been to Sea World. The San Diego park has one particular aquarium of similar volume (gallons of water held), containing similar specimens within the tank. I think the Silverton's aquarium is actually nicer.
The bottom line is that this is a very nice presentation. The rock formations provide great texture. And, there is a generous number and variety of fish within the tank.
I am told that there is a "mermaid show". I didn't see it--maybe because my visit was on a Sunday morning. But I did see someone in full scuba gear swimming in the tank, with the fish, doing maintenance within the tank. I think this may have been as interesting as the mermaid show.
There are a few stuffed chairs near the aquarium, if you want to sit and watch. The "Mermaid Restaurant Lounge" is also adjacent to the aquarium, and has good views of the aquarium, if you want to have a drink or something to eat. (The menu and drink prices are available online, on the resort's website.
