  • After doing as much internet research as I could stand, I took myself over to Becker's. I went alone. I don't have a lot of family around and figured my friends aren't really that interested in spending hours devoted to me-time. The main shop at Becker's is full of gorgeous designer gowns. Prices average around $1800, but you could find some cheaper or many more expensive. They have an in-house designer who can customize gowns, but there is already so much choice. I tried things on, they were so nice and always had time for me. Many of my friends had bought from here, but I wanted to compare places. I tried many other stores- on Spadina, uptown, and St Clair streets (you know the ones). The service, judgement I felt they were making and cost couldn't be beat at Beckers. I returned and ordered the dress that they didn't have to try on, but from a designer they carried. It came in on time, and I got my discount and took it elsewhere for alterations. I bought all my jewelry from their shop down the street, but not the shoes. Lovely people, great dresses.
