When I go to Kenzo I order either the Shoyu ramen or the Tonkotsu ramen.
Shoyu ramen tastes amazing and is one of the cheapest ramen bowls on the menu. The downside is that the portion is very small that I have to order extra noodles (worth it, though).
Tonkotsu ramen has a really nice creamy taste and I love the veggies that come with it.
Why does it get 5 stars? Because as a self-proclaimed ramen fanatic I've been to MANY restaurants in Toronto that serve ramen. Kenzo in my opinion is one of the best, if not the best. A lot of people would disagree with me but if you think about it (interior design and service aside), Kenzo ramen TASTES the best (in my opinion).
- The marinated egg: I find that a lot of ramen restaurants don't soak the eggs long enough or aren't giving it enough flavour. Although the egg is cooked to perfection, most of the time it just tastes like a plain egg. Kenzo ramen does this the best. Their egg is marinated to perfection and I sometimes order an extra slice to calm my cravings.
- The sliced pork: The only downside is I wish Kenzo would give more pork in all their ramen bowls because it's so good! Again it's something about how well they marinate the meat that gives it really good flavour compared to other ramen restaurants I've been to.
- Tonkotsu ramen: Kenzo's tonkotsu ramen is consistently very good. When I order tonkotsu at other restaurants sometimes it will taste a bit burnt. Maybe they boiled it for too long? The consistency is what I love.
- Shoyu ramen: At other places shoyu ramen can be too salty because of the soya sauce flavour. At Kenzo, it's always made to perfection.
