| - You Payless for a reason: Half the price as in airport locations, but is a hassle to get to.
If you plan ahead you'll be ok. Price was great, service was ok, no hassle, no extra fees. It was worth it for the price.
To me it was worth the hassle, I was renting for a week, so the cheaper price made quite a difference. It was a personal trip, so no corporate credit card to pay for it.
You take a bus to the Viscount station, make a phone call from a courtesy phone, in a few minutes a guy in a car will come get you and takes you to the location (not a walkable distance or road). I didn't have a long wait either on the pick up or the return, but some people did. I was picked up and dropped off at Viscount.
Service was ok, slower and not as well staffed as airport locations but there's a reason. Once the staff had the time for me they were nice. They're Indians and they speak their own language so you have no idea what they're saying. Doesn't bother me.
They're busy, everyone else is trying to save money too, so don't expect them to serve you as tour guides and tell you to stay off toll roads. That's what pre planning and GPS are for.
Car was ok, it was a Mazda 6? small scratches everywhere but with the flashlight app in my phone (it was late) I noted everything on the paper diagram form.
I brought my US insurance car and drivers license and it was all ok, no questions, no sales.
I brought my own GPS and car seat, it's cheaper to buy those at Walmart in the US and check it for free, than to pay the rental fee plus tax.
Canada has expensive taxes and very expensive gas, so Americans beware!
Airport locations are very conveniently located, but cost twice as much.
I guess if you're in a bussiness trip and corporate will pay for it then go for airport locations, but otherwise save yourself the money and make the trek to off airpot locations.
Last tip: rent from the US Kayak website, not the Canadian one, there's a BIG PRICE difference.
Have a good trip, Toronto is cool! :)
