| - This should have been a good time. The trip advisor rating is excellent, but my experience was much different.
I had checked this place out beforehand, and decided to check if any coupons or groupons were available online. Bingo, one of the more fun looking packages "Machine Gun Experience II", regularly priced at $150 which included an Uzi, M4, and MP5 with 2 mags each, was $99. I purchased it on my phone in the parking lot after ascertaining that they were open, and not busy.
On the range, I was supplied the 3 firearms, but only 1 mag each. After shooting, I asked the girl at the counter about the second mags for each. She told me that the groupon offer was for only 1.
I then went out to my car, and checked the groupon offer. It said no such thing. It only referenced the package name, which GG's website clearly described as having 2 mags each.
I went back in and asked to speak to the manager. "Chris" I believe was his name, came out to talk to me back by the range. He insisted that the same, that the groupon offer was somehow different than what their website offered.
I was calm at first, rationalizing that $100 for HALF the experience of the $150 package was NO deal. That there was nothing on their site, or groupons, saying there was any such reduction of the package. When Chris persisted in telling me that their website needed to be updated blah blah, I then got irate. They have trip advisor stickers everywhere, and promote the positive feedback thing vigourously. I let him know I was going to give this review, and alert the BBB to bait and switch.
Then he got defensive. "Why do you have to make a scene in my lobby, when I am trying to help you?" he said. FIrst of all, the lobby is in the FRONT, second, it was EMPTY where we were. And THIRD, he had thus far made NO indication that he was "going to help me". The threat of notifying the BBB of bait and switch tactics had apparently convinced him to finally give me what I PAID for, apparently.
So yeah, in the end I got my 2nd mags. And they brought out their worst example of the MP5. A real beater. The range hand wanted me to shoot it in semi-auto mode saying it would jam in full. WHAT? I have a suppressed SBR semi I can shoot in my own yard all day. Everyone knows you come for the FULL auto experience. And jam it did.
So yeah, they'll likely be disappointed by my review. Getting what I paid for, with a bucketload of drama and grief, does NOT a good experience make.
Go to Battlefield Vegas instead. At least they contribute information to the AR community on AR15.com
Oh, and the M4? It's a 9mm conversion. If you pay to shoot a real full auto M4, would you really expect to be shooting a weak pistol round?
I see that in the 24 hours since my visit, their $150 Machine Gun Experience II on their website has now been downgraded to 1 mag each. Classy folks. You poor NON groupon users are now getting half for full price.
