| - Stayed on a Sunday night, the day before Labor Day. The locals/residents discount made our 1 night stay really worth it. We had a two bedroom 2 bath condo overlooking the lake. We stayed in the 'Luna' buildings, which is across the lake from the main village. It was quiet, serene, and did not feel like we were in Las Vegas.
Being a local, we were well aware that the area has been a lot more 'quiet' due to the economy, meaning less foot traffic, less staff, and less dining options. However, those aspects did not have an affect on our stay. There was an art show in the village the afternoon we checked in, so we strolled around the village (walking across the bridge which is a short easy walk). We rented pedal boats, watched other guests paddle board and jet pack 'fly' in the lake. We stopped by a chocolate store in the village and the employees that we encountered at the shops and boat rental were helpful and friendly.
In the evening, we watched the sun set while at the pool, which wasn't crowded and just enough other guests to keep the kiddos busy. There was live music at the village across the lake which echoed over to our side and we could hear it perfectly. We then went back to our condo and enjoyed cooking a home cooked meal in the fully stocked kitchen while all the kiddos showered. Having Dish TV was a plus, and we were never once bored.
The next morning I enjoyed sleeping in, as the beds were comfortable. Made some coffee, relaxed on one of the two patio balconies, then made breakfast again in the stocked kitchen.
The best part? It's a 15 minute drive from our home.
Our check in experience was the only time we had contact with actual Aston employees, and they handed us a map of our room and a parking pass. Parking was ample, and we had taken 3 vehicles with us. Check out was a breeze-I just called the front desk and left my keys in the room.
The room itself was clean and decorate with a modern flair (modern light fixtures, dark cabinets, stainless steel appliances, dark granite countertops, tiled bathrooms with modern sink fixtures, and a flat screen TV). If you prefer the modern look over a contemporary look, try to book a room in the Luna building instead of in the Viera building.
The pool area was nice, plenty of lounge chairs and a warm hot tub and mini (shallow) pool that is also warmed.
We will definitely be back, and have told many friends about our positive experience so that they can stay and boost business. It's a beautiful place, maybe just lacking the crowds and business that was once here. Would love to see it get to that point again.
