  • I want to start by saying the staff at Carrillo's were very friendly and helpful. The problems were all centered around the alterations of my bridesmaid dress. The shop may consider the alterations a business separate to them, but if you get your dress at Carrillo's and want it altered it's through this woman. My dress was in for over a week, but the alterations woman was out of town. This was fine, there were still several weeks until the wedding, and I was told that taking in the hem and halter takes less than a week. The woman was initially friendly, pinned the dress and told me to setup an appointment with the shop to pick it up in a week. I drove all the way out there on my scheduled day only to find my dress shredded (back zipper torn out) and the halter not done. The woman did not apologize and just told me that she's too busy--they give her too much work. If they had just called me and said that the dress was not ready I would have been fine with rescheduling. Instead I took time off work and spent the gas money for nothing. So I came back five days later (now just four days before the wedding) to pick up the dress. The alterations woman was not there, and I was just handed the dress. It was horrible. The halter was still way too long, and the hooks were sewn on crookedly so it did not close right. The right and left side of the dress were sewn together unevenly in the back so the right side was about a centimeter higher than the left. This was very obvious as there is a ribbon going around that did not line up. Also, it did not look zipped up since the left side of the zipper ended a centimeter below the right. I was extremely disappointed in the very poor quality of the alterations. My friend also had her bridesmaid dress done and experienced a similar situation. She picked the dress up from the woman's shop and discovered that many people work there. It's not just this one woman with 'too much to do.' Fortunately I found a different alterations place that agreed to fix the dress in two days for a fraction of the price I paid at Carrillo's. I understand that bridesmaid dresses are lower priority, but I was a paying customer. I would caution anyone considering Carrillo's to take you alterations elsewhere. If you do get them done, make sure it is way in advance so you can make sure any mistakes are fixed. I am so glad the bride bought her dress from the designer in Texas. If they would have butchered her wedding dress as they did our bridesmaid dresses at Carrillo's it would have been devastating. Once again, wonderful staff at Carrillo's, but alterations were unbelievably terrible.
