| - This place probably qualifies for the worst customer experience I've ever had in Toronto.
I visited Glory Hole Doughnuts on a Saturday around 1 pm after hearing rave reviews about the quality of their food from numerous folks. I was a little reluctant to shell out nearly $5 for a single doughnut, but I heard they were amazing and their website made my mouth water.
Upon entering the store; however, I felt like I was walking into someone's apartment. I looked around for traces of a doughnut establishment but couldn't find anything - no signage, and no doughnuts anywhere within sight. To make it even worse, I wasn't even greeted by the hipster dude standing behind the counter when I walked in. Instead, he just stared at me until I had to ask him if I was in the right place.
Here's how the conversation played out:
Me: "Is this Glory Hole Doughnuts?"
Hipster dude: "Yes."
Me: "Oh, okay great. Do you guys have any doughnuts available?"
Hipster dude: "No."
Me: "Um, okay. When do you expect you'll have any doughnuts ready?"
Hipster dude: "Not for another 30 minutes or so. We need to make more."
Me: "Okay, well, bye then."
At that point, I decided to get out of there.
As I walked away, I asked myself JUST WHAT KIND OF A DOUGHNUT STORE DOESN'T HAVE ANY DAMN DOUGHNUTS IN STOCK ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON??
Granted, this happened a while ago - last year during the Polish festival on Roncesvalles in September 2012. They may have gotten their act together since then. But I won't be going back. Ever.
