| - I had high hopes for this 5 star resort (came for an onsite conference), but it was quite the cluster from the moment I arrived. GPS takes you to the back entrance, but there are no signs there saying it's an entrance. You wind your way around to the front and all the signs say "Do Not Enter", there's no where to go. I finally figured out that one lane was two way (no lane divider) and parked and dragged my luggage in to check in almost walking into the glass door as it did not slide open and no one opened it for me (the "lobby" is in another building due to construction, but it's very make-shift from what I could tell).
I then was given a very nice room way in the back in the Ocatilla building, but had to drag my luggage back to the car and follow someone in a golf cart about a half mile away. The room was nice, quiet, clean. The bed was a nightmare. Like sleeping on a marshmallow and not in a good way. (I later found out another building had the same beds). Signage is lacking walking around the huge grounds. You'll see a sign to your building, but then 5 feet later there is a fork in the path and you have no idea which way to go. Frustrating.
They have golf carts that take you all over, but a lot of it is walkable once you figure out the layout and shortcuts. I think they had one or two restaurants on premises open, but nothing else is walkable from there. Thankfully I had a car and ate every meal out.
Even the room numbers make no sense. My room was on the ground floor, but started with a 6 and a friend's was on the 4th floor of another building, but started with a 3.
The pools were fine (I think I only found two, but maybe the Paradise pool counts as more than one?). The staff were nice (although when checking in, the concierge could sense my frustration and said she would have something sweet sent to my room, I never got anything. The attempt at "service recovery" fails miserably if you don't deliver...
Would I recommend? Possibly, depends what you're looking for, but mostly no.
Would I ever stay here again? NO. Never.
