| - Had barcode on key chain for other car. Asked if they could look me up using my phone number, which they did...then they asked me for my ID, which I had left in trunk of my car. I asked them if my picture looked like me, and was told "yes, it does...but our policy is if you do not use barcode, you must show your ID...we need your ID." I asked why that was necessary if my picture in their system looked EXACTLY like me, and was told it was "policy". I walked out to my car, got my ID, presented, walked back out to my car and put it back in the trunk. When I reentered the club, I asked for the manager - turns out he was the guy sitting right behind the girl at the front. He asked if he "could help me" and I told him to process my cancellation - and he looked surprised(!). I joined Golds that day...$10 to sign up, $25 a month and I can go to any club. The problem with the Laveen LA fitness is poor management, poor maintenance of the machines with electronics - a number of the eliptical machines have either broken monitors or non-functional heart rate sensors, so they exits the program setting and revert to manual. It was tolerable for awhile, but after the "ID" experience, it's clear to me that no one there has got a clue.
