| - GNC. General Nutrition Center. They have been around for ages and it is a love and hate relationship I have with them. I love them because they are convenient. This location is perfect as it is on the strip and when I go shopping it's at the mall. GNCs are located EVERYWHERE and they do have a decent supply to choose from. Whenever I'm at any mall there they are always there and the one at Fashion Show Mall is just like every other GNC you've been too. It's not the biggest one but it's not the smallest either. But like I said, they're everywhere. They appear on every corner when you drive. And this is a huge plus. Convenience.
However, what I hate is what everyone probably hates, their prices! They are bumped up tremendously. I would expect them to atleast price match some major online retaliers but they don't. However if you find a privately owned GNC typically they DO price match, so that is a huge plus. But it is hard to find one that is.
But their prices are just ridiculous. For example, a protein that is like $25 online is probably $44 at GNC. And if you have a gold card the $44 is probably slashed to something like $37, but even then it is still expensive. Sometimes they do offer good deals with their buy one get one free or get one half off. Some of the major brands they do this for too which is nice. So that is one of the few times I go there. Otherwise I just go there if I am in the mood for an energy drink or a protein drink.
Also, they have decent clearance sales. If something is going to expire in a few months it is nice to see it 50% off, though the good stuff usually isn't but every now and then you will find something. Usually even when it has me the expiration date it is good for several months afterwards, but by law or whatever they have to get rid of it asap. Also they have a good selection of water bottles and things of that assortment which is nice. The people at this location are nice too but it does vary. Sometimes you get a grandma that doesn't know anything about supplements and other times you get a huge buff young person who knows everything. So I can't speak for staff as it depends on the time you go. But regardless, they were nice either way.
So, why do I give GNC 3 stars when I spoke relatively highly of them? Because they are convenient. What else is there? Vitamin shoppe? Though they have an awesome selection they aren't as prevalent as GNC and their costs are just as bad. Now, there are plenty of local shops that offer lower prices and are awesome, but they aren't as conveniently located. GNC is great for convenience, but sucks in terms of saving money. If for some reason I cannot order online, and the other local nutrition shops are far away, GNC is there, and I may purchase more expensive items. Otherwise I go in, look around, and buy something for $5. Unless, they have something awesome on the clearance rack.
