Budds BMW
I've had 3 BMW's in my life. The 3rd and most recent one I found on the Budds web site. I live far away so I started conversations and negotiations via phone and email. When I got close to a price, I made an offer over email at a percent discount that I would be happy with. My BMW contact said the management accepted my offer.
I went to do the dealer to review some final details and said "I accept the offer per your last email" then he sent me through to finance to get a deposit, talk about the extra protection plans that every dealer offers, etc. I noticed the printed offer she gave me had the same monthly payments but that the MSRP and discount were different that the email offer I printed and accepted. The discount was less than the email offer. She called the sales guy and together they casually pointed out that two options that were in the original quote were not in my final offer. So if my monthly was the same then I was paying the same but for less. And the discoutn percent that I agreed to was now lower. I've NEVER had a dealer try this on me. When I asked why that was done the sales guy said, "management does up the final deal and they have the right to make money". I said this was simply sneaky and not right. He didn't have anything to say - I found him to be unhelpful and pretty weak. He also said he's paid a flat amount per car so he couldn't do anything. All previous BMW's, and other cars for that matter, were bought with trust. I did not find anything sneaky or underhanded like this. I also did not find the need to review everything with a fine tooth comb, but with BUDDS you should or else they'll try this trick on you. Be CAREFUL!
