| - So, I was there for a birthday party not too long ago. I had a few problems with this place.
#1, the price of the food for parties - they triple charge for a basic cheese pizza (12 slices is $28!!), they can't even give a proper range for extras to order (wings & tenders), they say 40-60 - really?? That's a pretty big jump for what they charge ($38). I get that they have to make money, but when you're charging almost $19 for a kid to bowl for 1 hour and giving 2 slices of medium pizza, feeding the parents of the kids shouldn't cost more than the kids party itself.
#2, Quality of food - tender platter was over done - really dark and very dry. Wings looked anorexic, dry and no sauce on them it was left on the side (they didn't even ask which way we wanted them prepared. Fries cost almost $20 for a plate! Highway robbery at it's finest! They don't even have party size pizzas. Pizza was paper thin and not at all what i've been accustomed to when ordering from the same place they buy from (Dominos). AND FYI - there was no way that the platters held 40 or more tenders or wings - total rip off!
#3, They claim that due to health & safety standards that no outside food or drinks are allowed inside. The only thing you can bring is a vegetable platter, fruit platter and birthday cake. There was no food for several guests that were vegetarian & vegan. Try feeding someone veggie sticks as a meal - just ridiculous. Not even vegetarian sushi was allowed. One of the guests was asked to stay outside until they drank their bottled water that they brought in. Seriously??? Maybe if they didn't overcharge everything, that wouldn't happen. Besides, who kicks someone out for bringing in water?!?
#4 Cleanliness - just disgusted! The garbage pail in the corner of the room was so filthy nobody wanted to touch it to open it and put garbage in it. It had food & something else all over it that looked like it had never been wiped or cleaned. Lanes and seating didn't look clean either. I heard a few complaints about the lanes also being warped. VERY outdated and in desperate need of being cleaned up and up to current date with other bowling establishments. Clearly they didn't drop a dime in to the place when they purchased it 5 years ago.
#5 Party time too short - they don't even allow 5 min to clean up. Parties are supposed to run 1hr & 55 min. Really??? So kids have less than 45 min to eat pizza, sing happy b-day, cut & hand out cake and tidy up all our stuff to head out. They reminded the hosts at least 4-5 times 15 minutes into the party room how much time was left. A lot of guests were upset at being ushered out so rudely. The place was empty and there was only 1 other party and the lanes were empty (aside from that) and they claim to have more than 1 party room, Every party place gives flexibility of 5-10 min for everyone to gather their belongings. None of the guests were impressed by that. I think there are cleaner & better options for bowling parties in York Region - even if the cost is a buck or two more per kid.
I've now heard from multiple people that the current owners have been there since 2009. That certainly explains why they haven't had any new awards since the last one given in 2009 - i'm sure to the previous owners. A bunch of us gathered outside to talk and agreed that with the rudeness, lack of cleanliness & exorbitant pricing - none of us would be back. Certainly not a pleasant experience for a kids party.
