Sadly Eagle Trace is once again in a down ward spiral. If you want a inexpensive place close to base this is a great location. If you have a family this is not a good place to move. There is one "playground" that consists of a swing set. The pools are often dirty. The basketball court is over run with children of all ages using racial slurs and foul language. Sadly most of the renters here do not have consideration for the people around them. Security is a joke. Cell phones are their main concerns and renters their second. We had a temporary tag stolen off our new vehicle during Christmas and the first working day after Christmas letters were placed on our doors warning us of increased crime in the area. One can only assume that ours was not the only vehicle that had a theft. Originally when we moved here 3 years ago the pools and grounds were well maintained and security was on the job. That is not the case. I have never had an issue with any of the ladies in the leasing office or the maintenance workers. However if you need to speak to the property manager she will not return your phone calls and will blame her office staff. If you choose to move here let me give you some tips.
#1 ask to see the apartment you are moving into. We were shown their model apartment which had linen shelving in both bathrooms and new counters. Our apartment does not have shelving in the master bath room.
#2 the dining room windows do not open. This is not a big deal unless you have an apartment that does not have a kitchen window like ours. We have no cross ventilation to cool off the kitchen when we cook and it gets hot.
#3 get a top floor apartment. Scorpions can be bad here. They live in the rocks that surround the buildings. Also if you have a upstairs neighbor you will hear their children run and jump.
#4 get documentation of any changes that have been made to your apartment. I have seen more than once that people are charged for things they should not have.
#5 be ready to pay $25 for anything. It is the magical number here. Want a key for the 24 hour gym that they proudly advertise? $25 Loose a key to your apartment? $25 Forget to get the parking pass off your vehicle when you trade it in? $25.
