After looking at many pictures and reading many reviews, i decided to take my wife here to celebrate her birthday.
I decided to come here reading about all the activities and the pool.
My wife and I are Gold Elite Status with the marriott, and now SPG has merged.. so now this makes us preferred Gold with SPG. What a bonus right?? Hmm- first experience at an SPG property and it was just OK.. nothing special to us.. other than a weekend spent with nothing to rave about.
If you are Marriott Silver Status- The perks you get with Marriott are much more than what SPG offers. The service being Silver Elite with Marriott is better and the compensation for inconvenience are top notch.
When we arrived at Westin- Got an "enhanced" room- Corner.. and also got points or a beverage on "them". Points mean more to us, so we opted with the points. And we got a late check out..(Gold preferred perk)
** no free breakfast** (gold preferred-not entitled)
We arrived a little late- The check-in took about 30mins. Waited in line for them to assist the others ahead. Process was nice a slow. So being in the car driving here and waiting in line..you feel a little antsy.
The Room was nice- they gave me what i requested- a pool view. Enhanced our room to a corner room, which was nice(no balcony though). Bathroom was medium sized- the shower was small and narrow. The room all in all was spacious and clean. They had a fridge in the room as well.
The hotel itself- Very nice. Felt very resortish. Nice and clean.
The pool area has alot of chairs to layout on. and they provide towels as well. No food in the pool area. Drinks are OK. Order from the waiter walking around. Or order at the cafe near the pool.
They also have ping pong tables and Corn hole to play in gaming area.
PADDLE BOARDING AND KAYAKING!! Included with the extra whopping $30 resort fee/per day.. so we have to do this.. hmm..CLOSED.. due to wind.. ok???.. so we weren't able to take advantage of this.. and..NO COMPENSATION..WOW... not even a free drink.. or points.. or whatever.. just a "SORRY". So all we had was the pool... and the ping pong tables and cornhole..yay(sarcastic)- My main reason for selecting this place.
Our first SPG experience.... Hotel = Nice.. Staff = friendly/nice..
SPG perks and Compensation rules for inconveniences to make guests happy = Needs lots of work( maybe take from Marriott Service books and apply where needed).
I wont knock staying at any SPG- I just hope that SPG perks align right with Marriott perks so that both properties are on the same page with service.
