  • Solid karaoke joint in K-town! I came here in a group of 7 because my usual place, Bar Plus, was full. We decided to try Gorhegorhe based on the reviews from Yelp! Location: just steps from Christie station and close to lots of late night food options! Be sure to check the address though because it is easy to miss. The sign is small and it's in a basement below a Korean restaurant and just next to another karaoke bar. Service: part of the reason this place is just A-OK is that I wasn't wowed by their customer service. I had called and reserved a medium room but when we arrived, they said they only had a large room available ($50/hour instead of $40). It was our first time there and no one in our group can read Korean, but nobody explained to us how the remote control worked. We fiddled around and had to go out and ask a staff member to help us. I also didn't like having to pay in full at the beginning (Bar Plus lets you pay at the end) and they only take cash. Rooms: we had the "VIP" room at the back, which was quite spacious but not as large as the largest rooms at Bar Plus. I think this room would fit around 10-15 people, whereas the ones at Bar Plus can accommodate 20 or even a bit more. The room was really cold!! But when we asked if they can turn up the heat, they said the room beside us complained it was too hot. Luckily, it did warm up from having 7 of us in there singing and dancing;) The room itself was pretty minimal with vinyl sofas and a tambourine. They had 2 microphones, one was cordless and the other had a cord. Songs: they had a few binders but they were all by song name (instead of by artist). The English selection is decent, although small compared to their Korean/Chinese/Japanese selection. I like that the next song in the queue shows up on screen and that the machine tells you how many minutes you have left. The machine also gives you a "score" at the end of each song to boost your ego (I'm pretty sure it never goes below 90%). The videos are HILARIOUS. E.g. the video for "O Holy Night" is a bunch of rappers and pimped out cars:P I'd be back if I'm in the area, but my go-to place would still be Bar Plus!!
