  • Our first fine dining experience in Vegas! Bardot came highly recommended, so we made reservations for Monday dinner. It was our anniversary so we were surprised with a signed card at check-in from Bardot staff wishing us a happy anniversary. (No other out-of-the-way gestures pertaining to our celebration though.) Once settled, BF started off with a smokey old fashioned. He had the seat facing the bar so he was able to see the bartender making his drink. He was impressed with the way the bartender mixed his drink and with the execution of said drink. It was his favorite iteration of all the old fashioneds he has had so far. Bread service was a fresh, hot baguette with salted butter. It blew all other baguettes we've had before out of the water. Right as we finished the bread, our steak tartare starter arrived. Mix the egg yolk in with the steak tartare and use the spoon to scoop the tartare onto the chips -- the chips are too fragile to directly use as a scoop for the tartare. The slightly salty chips balance the taste of the tartare. If you still have some baguette left over, the steak tartare tastes great with it too! We had watched the Lego Batman movie a while ago and the lobster thermidor left an impression with us. Why does Lego Batman love it so much? What is it? When we saw it on the menu, we just had to order it. Since it was a bit of a gamble, we played it safe by picking a steak for the second entree. So it turns out the lobster thermidor is super creamy -- so much that halfway through, I had to clear off the excess sauce from the lobster pieces in order to eat it. The thermidor came with an excellent side -- mashed potatoes with peas, mushrooms, etc. The flat iron steak, however, was the star of the meal. I'm trying to remember when I had that good a steak and nothing comparable come to mind. It was lean, tender, and flavorful. The meal up to this point was going to be a 3 stars kind of meal, but the flat iron knocked it up to 4 stars. The meat was delicious, but the side (beef fat fries) could've been better. The side felt too greasy and heavy compared to the lean main dish. It would've been better if they married the flat iron with the side from the thermidor. What a knockout dish that would've been! We couldn't leave without dessert and with the recommendation of our server, we ordered the kouign amann, which was topped with a scoop of ice cream. We were so full, we struggled to finish it. It was good, though it was not replacing any of our all-time fave desserts off our list. Service was a mixed bag. Right from the get go, the table was set up, but the bench seats were full of food crumbs from the previous patrons. It was obvious they did not dust off food from bench seats while resetting tables. During our meal, it was hard to find someone to flag down to refill drinks, though they were quick to come by to ask BF if he wanted another old fashioned when he finished that drink. When our server was around, he was pretty good with conversation and recommendations. One thing I thought was weird was that if you charge the meal to your room, you don't get a receipt. We sat for quite a bit before we found our server and asked for a receipt. Aria's concierge advertised this place as a romantic fine dining environment, but it's pretty loud, like a lounge. The noisiness makes it hard to hear each other, detracting from an otherwise excellent fine dining meal. The old fashioned drink, the bread, and the flat iron steak will remain in our memory for years to come when we think of Bardot.
