  • I read some of the reviews before I went, but I like to see things with my own eyes. When I came to the hotel and the valet completely IGNORED me for 10 minutes, I had the negative reviews validated. Parking is ridiculous because the valet really doesn't care if you get settled or not, and the public parking is too far away to be considered. After I finally got into the hotel, things were okay. The front desk wasn't very knowledgeable about the surrounding area but they were at least friendly. I can deal much better with a smile than a cold shoulder. The room wasn't anything to write home about, but it wasn't anything to write a bad review about either. It wasn't overly spacious but it wasn't tiny. The bathroom was inconveniently small, but seriously, how much time do you spend in the bathroom where you need enough room to stretch out? The door was weird too; it was a sliding door that didn't shut entirely and it made me feel a bit uncomfortable. The fitness center and the pool were fantastic. I love how the fitness center is open late, so I'd work out at night and enjoy the entire room to myself. There was a large variety of equipment and it was very spacious. The pool was well kept and there were no children around whenever I went (obviously not something the hotel can control, but it was still nice.). The location of the hotel can be good or bad depending on where you're trying to go in downtown Pittsburgh. If you are in town for a Steelers or Pirates game, it really doesn't get much better. However, if you are in town for a Penguins game like I was, there are many other hotels that are close. I like walking which is why I didn't personally mind, but I could see the inconvenience many other people would have. The majority of the rooms have a fantastic view of the Point State Park across the street and you can easily walk to Fort Pitt museum. Market Square is also easily accessible from the hotel, which is a huge plus when you want to grab food. Overall, it was a comfortable stay. Nothing big to wow or complain about. I will always be peeved about the parking situation, but I can't have much to complain about when I book the hotel through Hotwire. Will I personally choose this hotel again? Probably not, but the hotel itself did what I needed to do: gave me a place to sleep while I watch my Penguins rough up their opponents.
