This is kind of a cross between a music venue and a regular bar. Just past the entrance is a decent sized room with a bar, pool table and tv's, while down the hallway is the huge venue room with the stage, dance floor, another bar, and both an upper and lower sitting area.
I came to see the Nosaj Thing/ Daedelus show and Le Belmont was pretty decent. The sound in the room was good and the room is big enough that it wasn't crazy packed inside. I liked that there were plenty of places to dance/ sit.The drinks were average priced, nothing special.
My only complaint is that Le Belmont forces you to check your coat. I don't understand why so many places in Montreal force checking in coats. Is it about the money?
I've heard enough horror stories about coat checks losing/stealing coats and I don't want to be forced to hand over my nice and shiny leather jacket just to be able to see a show. Plus, waiting in line to get my jacket back after the show and dealing with bitchy coat check girls SUCKS.
Overall a decent venue, but definitely not my favorite.
