  • "British cuisine"...this phrase is often seen as an oxymoron by Americans. Unfortunately The Codfather does nothing to dispel this notion. First - The physical building. I was expecting a cozy, British "Local". A pub with some personality. The Codfather has a bar and a brightly lit dining area with cheap card tables. So no to cozy. Second - The food. I ordered the Haddock and Chips. The chips (French fries) were perhaps the worst I have ever eaten. Soggy and extremely bland. Thank God for salt and vinegar. If not for those two condiments the chips were like eating fried wax. The Haddock was authentic British and I actually liked that. The Haddock actually allowed me to give a second star As much as it disappoints me to say it given I grew up in the British Isles, I would prefer to eat Long John Silvers or Captain D's rather than this mess. Perhaps stop by the Codfather and purchase the Haddock and then stop by Five Guys and get the fries. Those fries remind me of the style I had growing up.
