I drove an hour for my free consult with TLC Laser Eye Centers. Two minutes into the consultation the (nurse?) asked me why I took the medications I do. I told her I have Hashimotos, an auto immune disease. She said "Ok, we can stop here." Apparently, they won't perform surgery on anyone with an auto immune disease. If that is such a black and white thing, why wouldn't they ask me that on the phone when I was scheduling the consultation? It could have saved me a 100 mile round trip. I then had a consultation with Providence Laser and Eye Specialists and they asked if the Hoshimotos was under control, I said yes, and they said it isn't a problem at all. I had the surgery and couldn't be happier. I had zero complications. If you're trying to decide which place to go with, Providence Laser is MUCH nicer inside and their technology is top of the line-- therefore they have no hesitations about operating on people with very common auto immune diseases.
