| - The Three Speed is my home away from home. It is a bar, a restaurant, and a meeting place. The Three Speed is where I take my out-of-town friends when they're visiting, where I hang with my Toronto friends, and where I go when life's boring and I want to see some friendly faces. Also: it's a great date spot.
The staff are lovely. They are attentive and often against superior numbers -- let's face it, the joint is rammed every day. (I've heard people complain about them, but those people probably have never worked in a restaurant or bar before.) The vibe is good and, if you're a people-watching type, interesting. The food is great and prepared with care and skill, and the menu, whose specials change daily, incorporate a lot of interesting ingredients. Whenever I'm stuck for something to eat for dinner I go there, and, whether I nosh on their always-excellent burger or any of other quality (and well-priced) items on their menu (the kitchen/deli/cheese plate is an incredible deal), I'm always satisfied.
In a short while, The Three Speed has become a neighbourhood institution; I cannot think of my 'hood without it there. And, frankly, I don't want to.
