| - We really weren't planning on coming down to Phoenix for the weekend, but we found a killer rate for the Crowne Plaza from a third party and couldn't pass it up. This was the third time in the last year that we've stayed at a property on 44th by the airport, and this one was the best of the three. We were also pleased with the hotel amenities, the convenient location to other areas of the Valley, and the proximity of light rail station to get downtown.
If you do drive, beware that parking is limited (as of summer 2016, don't know if it's changed). There might be 25 spots at the most for self parkers. We were fortunate enough to find a spot every time we left and returned to the hotel. Check in was pain free and the room was completely sufficient with fully functioning internet, television, and comfortable beds. We did have one issue with the toilet, but it was fixed immediately after we notified them before we left for dinner.
Our dip in the pool was a good reprieve from the heat and the fully loaded treadmill in the workout room kept me from heat stroke outside. A hotel restaurant and a bar also give options to those who don't want to leave the property. We used the light rail to get to and from the D Backs game for $8 total round trip and saved us from any traffic and parking headaches. If we find a killer rate again, hopefully around Cactus League time, I'd definitely look to stay here again.
