Bright neon colours! Super fruity flavours! A smorgasbord of choices!
With my Pastry Chef Vision, I can see that the gelato here is created using pre-made bases which are concentrated in flavour and artificial colours. My Pistachio is Kryptonite green and obviously flavoured with almond extract. The Strawberry is eighties' pink and bursting with flavour. The Salted Caramel is quite creamy and tasty.
Essentially with Italian gelato, you are faced with two choices: gelato that's made from scratch or gelato that's made with prefabricated bases. There is a huge difference between the two with the latter being flashy in appearance. There are a few places in the city that make authentic gelato from scratch; Dolce isn't one of them.
That being said, the whole family enjoyed their dessert in Little Italy, and I'd stop in again. Dolce isn't my first choice for gelato but it's hip, trendy, and fun.
