| - The service is good when it's on, but that is sporadic. My real complaint is when I had to suspend service due to a move. First, they would not allow me to keep my phone number of fifteen years because service was going to be suspended for more than 30 days. Second, and worse, I had to ask multiple times for them to send me a mailer to return the cable modem. They finally sent one after 2 calls and 3 weeks. I returned the modem that day. Even a month later, they claimed I had not returned it and had to prove that I did. (Fortunately, I had taken a picture of the package when I gave it to UPS. However, that was not good enough for Cox, and they had used a service without clear tracking.) Cox then started and persisted in sending threatening and nasty past due notices, and actually turned my account over to a collections agency. Finally, two months after this saga began and after wasting hours of my time on the phone with them, Cox acknowledged that I had returned the equipment weeks earlier. Customer service stinks. Whatever happens is the customer's "fault." Even if you have an outage for days, Cox will not credit your bill. Now, this irresponsible nonsense on the back end. If you want to be disrespected and put through constant misery, Cox is the company for you! Glad to have such compelling reasons to never go back.
