I was craving a hot milk tea. Being in the Kennedy/Steeles area, what more suitable place is there to go to other than Pacific Mall? I headed straight to the second floor and starting browsing all the drink shops. What caught my eye first was their breakfast menu that was on a stand outside the shop. I instantly made a mental note to come back for brunch since I had such a hard time looking for a brunch place that same morning. Then I saw the owl logo and the Dak Lak Egg Coffee and I remembered seeing this place on Yelp.
The two people working (I'm assuming the owners) were very friendly. The shop is small but there are a few seats along the wall if you decide to dine in. There are also seats in the food court just a couple of steps away.
The black milk tea only comes in L and XL. I got a large and it was around the $3-4 range. Slightly pricier than regular milk teas, but it's also a larger size. It's freshly made and comes out super hot, which is a MUST for delicious milk tea. It was a little too hot to hold, even with the cardboard sleeve. I would ask for an extra sleeve or an extra cup next time. I do think this was the perfect temperature though. It was a little hot and strong in the beginning, but after letting it sit for couple of minutes, it turns into a delicious and creamy concoction with just the right amount of sweetness. Of course, I also have to mention the cute little owl logo on the cardboard cup that was hidden behind the sleeve! Finding this was such a cute little surprise (yes, I'm easily amused).
They have lots of variety on the menu and there's many things I'd love to come back and try such as the Earl Grey Milk Tea, Dak Lak Egg Coffee, Vietnamese Coffee and Thai Iced Tea.
I also just read a previous review that they offer stamp cards. I wasn't given one so I'm not sure if this is something that's still offered or maybe you have to ask for it. I'll make a note to myself to ask next time!
