| - I had the pleasure of getting an invite to a private party here at Umami Burger, SLS where I was treated to comp burgers, fries, drinks, and dessert and it was OUTSTANDING. Thanks so much to TouchTunes for throwing an awesome party and inviting me to come!
I have eaten at an Umami burger before and liked it and this time, I happened to get a truffle burger as the tray was passing by and it was so delicious. Sometimes things covered in truffle oil can just be overwhelming and more hype than yum, but this burger was mouth-wateringly fantastic. I paired it with some of their sweet potato fries which are sweet AND salty and thus, deliciously flavorful - hm. Umami? Luckily for us, they also brought out some of their signature ice cream sandwiches and we got to try each. I liked them, but my first one was the best, chocolate cookie with peanut butter ice cream. By the end, the cookie parts were getting a little soggy for my taste. Overall an AMAZING experience and the people working the party and wandering around with trays of tasty treats were so polite and friendly, we really felt like we were at a friend's party.
A few days later, we found ourselves BACK at Umami Burger. We were looking for somewhere to watch the Nascar race and I remembered that Umami Burger is also connected to the sports book at SLS and is filled with televisions everywhere. Because it was the March Madness semi finals, I was worried about where to go, but no worries, we were able to get into a booth at Umami and have our private television in the booth tuned to the Nascar race. Of course, no sound, but at least we were right up close and personal and could see all of the racing action.
Since we'd done burgers and fries, we decided to try some of the other fair offered and the husband ordered buffalo wings and I had the nachos (sans beans). The nachos come with braised pot roast on them and it's really good. I enjoyed the nachos very much... only thing that would have made them better would be MORE CHEESE. Why are people always stingy with the cheese anyway?
We also ordered the pickle plate which is not pickles at all... well, there are a couple of bites of pickles, but it is a plate of a bunch of different pickled veggies, more of a giardiniera with beets, spicy carrots, peppers, etc. It was tasty! I also actually ordered one of the ice cream sandwiches (the same one I'd like before), but it was surprisingly soggy like the ones I'd had late in the evening at the party, so I thought that was weird, and disappointing. I wouldn't recommend the ice cream sandwiches due to that.
We milked a good 3 hours at that table and our server was very gracious, but we kept ordering and I dropped a 25% tip to make up for hogging the table.
Between these two experiences, I definitely recommend Umami burger. The food is quite tasty and my service experiences were very good. I'll be back.
