  • The best hotel value when visiting Toronto! Every decent hotel downtown is ridiculously expensive. Novatel North York was decently priced and is in the same building as the metro, so it's a direct 30 minute metro ride to Union Station without having to step outside. So much of Toronto is near metro stops to make this super-convenient. . Some info: 1. A short walk to Loblaws shopping center for all the food and beer/wine you need. Keep in mind the in room fridge doesn't go beyond somewhat cold - even milk spoiled in there over a few days. 2. air conditioning in rooms doesn't work so well. 3. taxi to/from Billy Bishop airport is cheaper via local streets. If the driver asks you if you want to take the highway, refuse. 4. some of the staff were super-nice, specifically the maid and a member of the restaurant staff.
