I read some positive reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a go. I went on a Thursday evening and the bar wasn't crowded. I was seated quickly by a friendly young man. It took quite awhile for the server to come. I was surprised how he didn't couldn't answer simple questions such as what the contents of the Bloody Mary Oyster Shooter were or what vodka was used. This place has a very small menu, so I would expect my server to be knowledgeable. I ordered oysters on the half shell. They didn't seem super fresh but definitely weren't spoiled. I like crackers with mine but their cracker baskets were so crammed full, finding an unbroken packet was like getting a $10k pay out playing single bets on the penny slots. The Tabasco was old and crusted and the cocktail sauce tasted cheap. My server was polite but never asked how things were, if I needed anything, and he was slow to refill my beverage. It really felt like the bare minimum service.
I had a far better experience at the Gold Coast oyster bar my fella took me to but its just too far to be my regular place. (Oysters fresh shucked, bigger, prices better.) This place wasn't awful, just not what the yelp reviews led ms to believe. I am planning on trying Big Al's next week. Hope its better than this experience.
