  • First visit and we're hooked! It doesn't seem Hearthstone has been open all that long, but it's been long enough that it's a shame we haven't gone before. Located right in Red Rock Casino, and right in the front of the building, it's easy to find. A great menu and good prices. Lots of indoor seating, and a generous section of scenic outdoor seating where you're surrounded by fountains and nice views of the mountains on the west side of town. It's definitely a casual place (advertised as "rustic"), but if you're in a job requiring business clothes and you're headed there after work, you won't feel like you're overdressed. There's no need to head home to change first. To kick off dinner, we shared an order of Crispy Calamari. It was just the right amount to prep us for dinner (most places serve you too much) and it wasn't really crispy--it's just a nicer way to say it's fried. Don't panic though: it was lightly breaded, lightly fried, and very tender. I followed the appetizer with the Prime Flat Iron Steak (ordered medium rare and cooked perfectly) and my wife had the Prime Rib French Dip. Both were amazing and as with the Calamari, the portions were just right. We had room for dessert if we'd been in the mood for it, which is nice. Next time we go back we'll try some other dishes and probably see what's happening on the dessert menu. There are lots of regular and high-top tables, with seating and full service available in the bar area too. There are also sofas and chairs around low coffee-style tables making this a great place to come for casual snacks and drinks, and creating a vibe that is almost like sitting at home. As we were getting ready to leave there was a guitarist setting up to play in the area between the bar and where the couches were, adding live music to an already cool place. They feature live music on Friday and Saturday evenings: something we'll definitely go back to check out. Annie was our waitress, and she was outstanding! I rarely mention wait staff by name, but I wanted to mention her. She treated us so well we felt like family or close friends. We'll definitely ask to sit in her section again! One note: even though it didn't appear busy when we arrived, all the regular tables were full and there was clearly a list of reservations. Go ahead and make one if you're headed there during typically busy restaurant hours or on those nights when folks like to go out (Friday and Saturday for sure). When we went (on a Friday evening), there was only seating available in the bar area without a wait. Not a big deal though, the seating and service in the bar area was just as nice as the rest of the restaurant, and frankly, if you're there for casual conversation with friends and want to be near the music, the bar is probably the best place to be. And it was never too loud to carry on a nice conversation. We're going back soon. Hearthstone is definitely on our list of new favorites in Summerlin!
