| - We decided to get married in Las Vegas and I always wanted to do the Elvis wedding and my wife let me do this. We looked around for the best chapel and found that the best Elvis look alike was at Graceland Chapel. Lets get to the cost and package we did. Too bad I saw online about the blue Hawaiian wedding special because we would have done that instead.
Lets get down to the costs
Basic Elvis Wedding
$199.99 (2 songs, Elvis will escort you down, him doing the wedding, boutonniere, rose for the bridge to walk down) The ceremony takes around 5 minutes for the fun and entertainment.
If you are doing a real wedding, you will first go through the person officiating the ceremony which is 5 minutes as well.
Okay, we also added in the $60 dollar DVD and $15 placeholder for the card which reminds me of getting a high school diploma. Was the DVD worth it for $60, well the good news is you do get after the ceremony and you wait just 10 minutes after. The bad news is well the quality is just terrible and really bad. I would compare it to VHS quality and very blurry. Now a days with the technology, I thought they would have put it in HD and that file is big enough to fit onto a DVD disk.
Now time for the tipping part and extra fees. There is a $60 dollar minister cost if you are planning to get married. The 2nd fee is tipping the limo driver of $40 dollars and then $20 dollars to the photographer. I gave Elvis an extra $20 dollars as well, so I spent a total of $140 in tips. Then, another $77 dollars to get my wedding license.
What to do before the wedding?
1. Get your marriage license
The Clark County License office is in downtown and is open 24 hours and 7 days a week. They issue the most wedding licenses in the USA, I think about 78,000 licenses a year. The fee is $77 cash and $79 if you paid through credit card
2. Make sure you reserve a time slot and date
There is a non refundable deposit of $100 dollar, but it is applied toward the wedding
3. Ask for the right Elvis
I heard that there are different Elvis doing the ceremony. We lucked out in getting the right Elvis and did not know
4. Look on the website for any specials
5. Reserve for a time slot for a limo.
The ride is free, but you will need to tip $40 dollars and sits a maximum of 7 people. They gave us a ride from the Mandalay Bay to the chapel which is a 15 minute ride.
If you do get a limo please note that after the ceremony that you are to be taken back as the driver has more pickups. Unfortunately no time for the Gold and Silver Pawn shop to take a look at or looking into downtown.
Wedding itself is enjoyable, but very short. You do get to take a lot of pictures with photographer Lance. He was very nice and shot some great photos and uploaded to the website really quick. One with Elvis and the other without Elvis. However, be prepared to pay the price of paying a lot of the photos $399 for the whole set. We have not decided on what pictures to get just yet. Elvis we got was great and patient and was very entertaining and fun. I would say go ahead and do the wedding, it is fun.
