We drove by the plaza and were instantly drawn by the amount of people in Papa Pastry & Café at 9:00 PM at night. Many of the patrons were having tea with trays and trays of pastries in this enchanting café!
Amir, the owner makes you feel at home. This is one of the most generous café, I have ever had the pleasure of being in. The pastries on the tables are complimentary for customers. You can enjoy a cup of tea in a pink tea set with traditional Persian baked goods. As someone who is inexperienced with Persian cuisine, I have no idea as to what any pastries in the store were. Amir's response to all my inquires was, "just try it". In additional to the selection baked goods and pastries available for sampling by the cashier, the staff was kind and offered us samples of the items we wanted to try from the display.
This is a wonderful environment to enjoy a relaxing evening with loved ones. It is no wonder that Papa was busy late in the evening!
Can't wait to try the cakes at Papa's in our next visit!
Note: If you have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, this is the place to be! There is a surprisingly large number of gluten free options including Naan e Berenji (Rice flour with rose water cookie), Nan-e Nokhodchi (chickpea flour cookie, with similar texture to shortbread cookies), and Nan Gerrdoie (egg white with ground walnut flour cookies) to name a few.
