  • This place is my home base in the Vegas strip. When you think about it and you will as soon as you read my review, you'll see why I see it as my base. First off, if you're an MMA or boxing fan (btw, SCREW MAYWEATHER), you'll know this is the only casino that has the dedicated fighting ring. So if you expect to see fights, it's going to be at MGM. Second, they have several decent places to eat from the cheap (McDonalds) to the pricy (Emerill). Third, I just had to see the pool at Mandalay Bay to be sure, but I definitely ended up enjoying the design and overall environment at MGM Grand's pool. I love their lazy pool and how they're just several pools to choose from when you just can't stand to be around certain crowds. Fourth, the room and the beds are very comfortable. Probably the only beds more comfortable are at Caesar's Palace/Hotel Nobu. Fifth, they have impeccable front desk service. I always got to check out late at no charge and when the shower didn't do hot water, not only did they fix it within an hour, they waived my entire stay's resort fee. It was totally unnecessary, but totally appreciated! Sixth, they have a rail that can take you to other casinos at not only a much cheaper rate than a taxi, but without the traffic. Lastly, for those that love to party, Wet Republic is among the best pool parties and Hakka-San is among the best (and largest) nightclubs. If you end up going to both, you might as well stay at the same hotel, right? Both clubs have been good to me in more ways than one. The overall hotel rates is in the middle of all the strip hotels. It's not quite expensive like the Cosmopolitan or Bellagio, but not lower end like Harrah's or Flamingo's. Perhaps my only complaint is unless you get the SkyLoft, you're not going to get a good view. I got a good view from Mandalay Bay, but honestly, I didn't think it was worth it. MGM Grand just feels like a man's hotel. Probably the only thing I haven't done is gamble there (except for slots). I have to change that.
